APPLICATION FORM FOR THE 5-DAY SILENT RETREAT LIVE ONLINE
THE WAY OF THE HEART is a retreat that explores connecting with the welcoming presence of the heart. Its intention is to encourage a practice that cultivates and nurtures true presence as the fundamental element in understanding our “living” and true inner knowing.
This retreat holds kindness as the central and fundamental quality of the mindfulness practice and an intrinsic part of our humanity. Humans long for and need kindness as an essential part of their wellbeing and will suffer in its absence as we can see almost everywhere in our modern society. It is therefore essential to create the time and space to plant the seeds of kindness within our practice.
The power of kindness can be deeply transformative when we move with the quality of kindness in our relationship with ourselves, the other, and our experiences.
So what is kindness then? It is the natural attitude with which we bring into our relationship with others and the experience of our living. It is a precious quality to be nurtured everyday and held as our great companion in our practice and noble lifestyle.

“Be kind, always, for everyone you meet is fighting a harder battle.” Ian McLaren.
This retreat offers the opportunity to hold an intense practice that is genuinely rooted in that special state of sensitive awareness that underlies all mindfulness practices. This is especially relevant now that the practices of mindfulness have become so popular and are often misinterpreted as techniques to learn quickly and to apply easily rather than as an inner journey and a heartfelt personal resource to be developed throughout a life long practice.
During the retreat the participants will have the possibility to get closer to and comprehend their personal experiences through the practice of mindfulness meditation in its universal and non-sectarian expression, conveying the way, spirit and practice of MBSR.
The retreat aims to bring mindfulness practice into the contemporary social context and at the same time to protect the integrity of traditional teachings, cultivating the essence of mindfulness practice and of the dharma with a common and approachable language. This is the same approach that can also be found in the Oasis training program, in which the curriculum and the training to become MBSR teachers reflect a deep understanding of the dharma in a universal context and meaning.
"The way of the Heart" retreat has been designed to comply with and to express the essential and universal approach of mindfulness practice, promoting a rigorous experience, which is at the same time independent from any specific religious approach or tradition. During the retreat the themes, the instructions and the practices presented will be all rooted in the MBSR experience and aligned with the criteria of Mindfulness Center at Brown University USA Teacher Training Program.
Even though some professional branches have become interested in mindfulness practices and in their possible clinical applications, this retreat will offer the opportunity to "sharpen" a specific sensitivity which is necessary for the hard work of living our lives in relation with other people.
Noble silence: during the retreat there will be extensive periods of silence.
